Lake City considers changing name to Dollywood

Lake City in Anderson County is moving forward with plans to change the city's name to Dollywood. Lake City officials say the name change will make it easier to trick people into coming to their town. "People do not like coming to Lake City, probably because it is Lake City," said Lake City Mayor Corey Lucas. "Hopefully by changing our name to Dollywood, people will briefly think we are home to a 130-acre amusement park. They'll figure it out eventually, but we'll have them for a few minutes." City officials hope they can cash in on the short-lived confusion with official airbrushed T-shirts. Lake City's City Council considered several other names before settling on Dollywood, including Graceland, Neyland Stadium, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Quick, Turn Around.
