Dave's Front Yard Working Group considers plans for Knoxville man's front lawn

The Dave's Front Yard Working Group met Monday night to discuss plans for the future of a Knoxville man's lawn. The task force, made up of several people with big ideas about Knoxville resident Dave McKillip's front yard, discussed two possible projects. One plan would bring the University of Tennessee's Clarence Brown Theatre to McKillip's lawn. The second project calls for the construction of a concert amphitheater over next to the Dogwood tree. "There are obvious advantages to the city and UT having the Clarence Brown Theatre in Dave's front yard," said one task force member. "This would continue our efforts to link downtown to other Knoxville neighborhoods. And an amphitheater would also be a great place for outdoor neighborhood concerts. Frankly, everyone wins here." But the plans are not without critics. "I would prefer it if they didn't put anything on my lawn," said McKillip. "I like it being a lawn. Sometimes my family likes to sit in the grass and have a picnic. We don't really want a theater or concert venue here, if it's all the same." When asked about McKillip's objections to the project, the Dave's Front Yard Working Group just laughed and laughed.
