Parking Complaint Festival kicks off in downtown Knoxville

Thousands visited downtown Knoxville on Saturday to celebrate the city's annual Parking Complaint Festival. Featured in the day's events were the an increase in parking difficulties due to a Color Me Rad 5K race, the Dogwood Arts Festival and the second day of the Rhythm and Blooms concert series. Other outdoor activities included circling the garage one more time and hey maybe we should check that other garage over on State Street. "I love complaining about how many minutes I have to drive around looking for parking," said festivalgoer Shelby Myrick of Karns. "I love swearing at the person in front of me who claims the spot of the guy backing out before I can get to it. I love saying that this is why no one likes coming downtown. I just love the whole thing." The weekend festival concludes today with closing half the streets downtown for the Knoxville Marathon.
