Baumgartner sentenced to stern talking to

Former Knox County judge Richard Baumgartner was sentenced Wednesday to a stern talking to by a federal judge. Baumgartner was found guilty in October of five counts of misprision of a felony for lying to cover up his addiction to painkillers, which were allegedly supplied to him by a mistress. Greeneville U.S. District Judge Ronnie Greer had strong words for Baumgartner at the hearing. "We want to send a strong message to judges who buy illegal drugs from their mistresses, lie about it and cost taxpayers thousands of dollars in retrials after their cases have been thrown out," he said. "Let me be perfectly clear. If you commit crimes of this nature, we just might ask you to stand in the corner for five minutes. And don't you forget it. And if this guy commits any more felonies, we'll be forced to give him the stink eye."
